Oni is a mysterious label driven by a true enthusiast who has dedicated 60 years of his life to denim. Always in pursuit of perfection, Oishi-san is constantly searching and focuses exclusively on production. This is why you will find neither a website nor an official Instagram page for this brand. It is also the reason why the label is only distributed in a few boutiques around the world, and exclusively at Flâneurs in France.

For this Fall/Winter 2024 season, Oni is pleased to offer again a model first introduced in Japan: the Kasuri. Incredibly popular and, for some stores, sold out in one day, it is a highly anticipated reference with results exactly as imagined. To create this fabric, the unrivaled Oishi-San chose a combination of very irregular cotton, a very low tension weave, and a specific dyeing technique: Kurume Kasuri, listed as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO since 1957. This technique involves making the absorption of indigo uneven by tightly wrapping knotted threads at specific points of the cotton thread, thus preventing them from being dyed during the indigo bath.

The result of this specific blend of weaving and dyeing is a very graphic, iridescent, and grainy fabric that, despite its final weight of 17oz, turns out to be surprisingly flexible and comfortable. All the usual details offered by Oni are there, from the branded rivets to the leather patch, all combined with chain-stitched seams in the purest tradition of Japanese selvedge denim. Interestingly, the selvedge ID is bicolor, purple and yellow, which earned Oishi-San a comparison to the NBA team, the Lakers.

The 288 style called "Regular Straight" features a high waist, a deep rise, and a straight cut from the thigh to the leg opening.
