Denime is an iconic Japanese brand founded in 1988 by Yoshiyuki Hayashi. It is renowned for its faithful reproductions of vintage American jeans, particularly those from the 1960s. By collaborating with Kurabo Industries, a pioneer of Japanese denim, Denime developed authentic selvedge fabrics woven on traditional shuttle looms. This meticulous approach helped establish Denime as a leading name in the world of premium denim.

Denime is part of the renowned "Osaka Five" group alongside Studio D'Artisan, Evisu, Fullcount and Warehouse & Co.. Now under the supervision of Warehouse & Co., the brand continues this legacy by producing faithful reproductions of iconic American denim models, crafted with remarkable attention to detail.

The Lot. 221 Big E Model is inspired by Levi’s jeans from the early 1960s, an iconic period marked by the appearance of the famous "Big E" red tab. This reproduction highlights a classic silhouette, slightly more comfortable than the slimmer models of the era while maintaining the balanced proportions typical of vintage jeans from that time.

It is made from a 14.5oz selvedge denim developed in collaboration with Kurabo and woven on GL3 shuttle looms. The 100% natural cotton fabric is left unsanforized in order to preserve the full texture and character of the denim. This traditional construction allows the jeans to evolve naturally over time, revealing unique fades and an authentic grain through wear and washing.

The deep shade is achieved through rope dyeing with indigo, a traditional technique that enables the denim to develop rich and contrasted fading. The details remain faithful to vintage denim standards: iron button fly, cotton thread stitching, copper rivets, paper patch and the white and yellow selvedge ID visible on the outseam.

The fit features a mid-rise, a comfortable thigh and a straight leg with a slight taper, offering a perfect balance between vintage authenticity and modern wearability. The Lot 221 by Denime embodies the essence of Japanese reproduction denim: a durable garment, precise in its details and designed to improve with time.

Sizing

This model is made from unsanforized (shrink-to-fit) denim. Before washing, the jeans fit slightly larger to anticipate the fabric’s natural shrinkage. We recommend taking your usual size to achieve a balanced fit after the first wash. If you prefer a slightly slimmer fit, you may also choose one size down.

After the first wash, shrinkage of approximately 2 to 3 cm at the waist and 5 to 6 cm in length is typically observed. The rise and leg widths may also reduce by around 1 cm. Once worn, the denim will naturally stretch slightly—especially at the waist—gradually returning closer to its original measurements.

Please note that these measurements are indicative and may vary slightly from one model or size to another.

In the photos, Maxime is 1m83 tall, weighs 78kg, and wears a size 32.
