Despite being relatively new with its inception in 2013, Batoner is the proprietary brand of the Okuyama Meriyasu knitwear company, founded in the 1950s. Batoner, which means "one who inherits", proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata, which has grouped for many years the best knitting factories in Japan. With only about fifteen still active today, each strives to perpetuate the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.
