Roping
The roping effect is a raised, spiral visual effect that appears around the hems of jeans, usually after repeated wear and washing. It takes the form of irregular, circular waves in the fabric, resembling a twisted rope.
This effect is caused by thread tension and the asymmetrical construction of the hem, often enhanced by the use of traditional shuttle looms and vintage chain-stitch sewing machines. Over time, the hems fade unevenly due to movement and washing, creating these unique patterns.
