This pair of socks from ROTOTO is made on vintage knitting machines using a blend of organic cotton yarn and silk yarns, bringing softness and comfort. Its design combines exclusive patterns from the brand, knitted in such a way as to eliminate one of the common problems with Jacquard patterned socks, namely the lack of horizontal elasticity. The numerous inner threads resulting from this type of weaving are also eliminated, making the sock comfortable and durable.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in the largest sock-producing region of Japan, Nara Prefecture. The area has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great emphasis on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the product usage. It could be rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, on the contrary, modern high-tech tools.
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsmanship.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
