Seuvas is a young Japanese label based in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. Inspired by workwear and military attire, the brand creates garments using exceptional canvas from Takeyari, a local mill that has been producing this material for 130 years. Seuvas offers jackets, shirts, and trousers made from natural canvas in its permanent collection, cutting and sewing all clothing in their own workshop in Kurashiki using vintage sewing machines.

This season, Seuvas introduces a new charcoal-dyed capsule collection named Binchotan. Binchotan is a dense vegetable charcoal that resembles metal and is made from Ubamegashi oak. It is known for numerous benefits, such as water purification, absorption of unwanted tastes and odors, and excellent thermal properties, highly used in cooking. Used as a dye base, it gives the fabric a unique feel, blending softness with coarseness, and also provides a distinctive patina similar to that of indigo dye.

The brand has also opted for a thicker fabric than their usual canvas. This is a Herringbone fabric weighing 15oz, made from textured organic cotton. The jacket features a decidedly retro cut, highlighted by its intentionally short length, its roominess, and the martingale at the back, nodding to the vintage Type I denim jackets. Two hand patch pockets have been added, and the button placket consists of oxidized metal donut buttons adorned with a laurel leaf, another detail reminiscent of vintage jackets, thus adding a touch of authenticity to an overall contemporary result.
