Celebrating its 45 years in the denim industry, Studio D'Artisan draws inspiration from Japan's affection for the changes that occur over the four seasons with the SP-117 "Ai-Sa" or "Ai-Sakura". The Japanese have always expressed their love for the natural beauty of mountains and fields in poetry, art, and song, while dyeing and wearing garments using colors derived from plants, roots, and flowers. This dyeing method is known as Kusakizome and remains a widely practiced dyeing technique today.

Studio D'Artisan highlights this heritage by using a natural dye derived from cherry bark and branches "Sakura" to create a pale pink hue present on the weft of this exclusive 15oz denim. For the warp thread (exterior), a natural indigo "Aizome" dye gives this denim an overall blue hue before being over-dyed with the same dye as the weft. This combination achieves a beautiful light purplish shade that promises a unique patina. This latest project from SDA represents a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary fashion, injecting the gentle beauty of Japan's natural landscapes into an everyday garment.

The SP-117 is offered in Studio D'Artisan's Tapered fit. It features a high waist, an overall straight leg, slightly tapered from the knee to the hem. This is a very neat cut, close to a classic slim but with a slightly wider hem to make it easy to wear with bulky shoes. This versatile fit has all the features to easily adapt to a wide range of body types.
