Oni is a mysterious label led by a true denim artisan who has devoted over 60 years of his life to the craft. Constantly pursuing perfection, Oishi-san is entirely focused on production, which is why there is no official website or Instagram page for the brand. As a result, Oni jeans are only available in a select few stores worldwide—and exclusively at Flâneurs in France.
While retaining the hallmark authenticity of Oni Denim fabrics, the “KIRAKU” series is crafted from a lightweight 12oz denim. As with all jeans from the Demon label, this pair is woven on vintage shuttle looms. Thanks to low-tension weaving, the selvedge fabric boasts a textured and slightly rough feel. This Bio Bleach version of the Kiraku features a light blue wash achieved through a process called BioWash, an eco-friendly method for pre-washing or fading raw denim without compromising the fabric. This technique also gives the denim a soft, fuzzy touch and remarkable fluidity, making the jeans comfortable from the first wear.
Staying true to signature detailing, the usual bright pink selvedge line appears pastel here, softened by the treatment, and pairs perfectly with the light indigo hue of the Kiraku. You'll also find thoughtful finishes like hidden copper rivets reinforcing the back pockets and pocket bags. The belt loops are raised, meaning they contain a small cord inside that adds extra durability.
The 222 "Super Wide Straight" from Oni is the brand’s boldest fit to date, following the 200 "Wide Straight". It features a very high rise, generous back tilt, and a wide straight leg from thigh to hem. It’s rare to see such a silhouette from Oni, but the masterful execution makes it a standout piece for anyone seeking a strong vintage-inspired wide fit.
