Oni Denim is an iconic Japanese denim house founded by Oishi-san, a legendary master weaver renowned for his low-tension selvedge fabrics. Produced on vintage shuttle looms, Oni fabrics are known for their extreme texture, lively hand feel, and unmistakable character.
This new “Bumpy” model perfectly embodies that philosophy. The fabric itself is actually well known, as it is a reference previously produced by the brand under the name Kasuri. It is woven using intentionally irregular yarns, creating a deeply bumpy and organic surface. The name Bumpy comes from the appearance of the fabric after overdyeing. The Kuro dye, applied after construction, settles primarily on the raised areas of the fabric, revealing subtle anthracite grey nuances in the recesses and a deep, even black across the surface.
With time and wear, this intense black will evolve into nuanced contrasts, revealing the full richness of the weave. Lighter than the Secret Denim—the brand’s iconic model—but just as expressive, these 277 Bumpy Kuro jeans offer immediate comfort thanks to their pre-washed fabric, along with exceptional aging potential.
The Just Right Straight fit offers a modern, versatile straight silhouette—neither too wide nor too slim—ideal for showcasing the texture of the denim without excess. A strong character piece, faithful to the raw and experimental DNA of Oni Denim, and part of a four-color series: Kuro (black), Oudo (ochre), Kusaki (green), and Murasaki (purple).
