"More Wear, More Wonderful" is the guiding philosophy of Omoto Denim, a young Japanese brand founded by Hiroki Kishimoto, former managing director of Japan Blue Jeans. Working closely with skilled craftsmen, Omoto carries forward the tradition of Japanese denim by combining heritage techniques with modern craftsmanship.
This 16oz denim is defined by its distinctive neppy texture, created by natural irregularities in the yarn. The warp yarns are spun from short-staple cotton fibers (27mm or less), giving the fabric a raw, uneven look. The weft yarns are produced using the traditional “Gara-bo” spinning method, which creates a hand-spun feel with a rustic, airy texture.
Rope-dyed in pure indigo, the warp yarns develop a deep, rich blue that fades over time with strong, high-contrast patterns. The fabric is woven at low tension on a vintage Toyoda GL8 automatic loom from the 1950s, giving it both density and durability. This model is non-sanforized but pre-washed, preserving the natural hand of the cotton while stabilizing the size and offering comfort from the very first wear.
The 0812 Loose Fit is a wide, relaxed cut with a generous volume, inspired by tailored trousers and natural body lines. Designed with a high-rise that sits at the navel, it features a straight wide leg that runs from thigh to hem. Signature details include the "Mimi" selvedge ID, sheep leather patch, and herringbone pocket bags with a woven label to record wears and washes—allowing you to track the denim’s evolution over time
