Oni Denim is an iconic Japanese denim house founded by Oishi-san, a legendary master weaver renowned for his very low-tension selvedge fabrics. Produced on vintage shuttle looms, Oni fabrics stand out for their extreme texture, lively hand feel, and unique personality.
This new “Bumpy” model perfectly embodies that philosophy. The fabric itself is actually already well known, as it is a reference previously produced by the brand under the name Kasuri. It is woven using intentionally irregular yarns, creating a deeply bumpy and organic surface. The name Bumpy comes from the appearance of the fabric after overdyeing. The Kusaki dye, applied after construction, is a deep, natural green inspired by traditional Japanese vegetal dyes. It settles primarily on the fabric’s raised areas, allowing darker nuances to appear in the recesses.
With wear over time, this color will gradually evolve into a contrasted patina, revealing the full complexity of the low-tension weave. Lighter than the Secret Denim—the brand’s iconic model—but just as expressive, these 277 Bumpy Kusaki jeans offer immediate comfort and strong aging potential.
The Just Right Straight fit offers a modern, versatile straight silhouette—neither too wide nor too slim—ideal for showcasing the texture of the denim without excess. A strong character piece, faithful to the raw and experimental DNA of Oni Denim, and part of a four-color series: Kuro (black), Oudo (ochre), Kusaki (green), and Murasaki (purple).
This model runs small; we recommend choosing one size up from your usual size.
