The Lot. 220XX-54 is one of the core pieces of the “XX Series” project by Denime, now produced under the expertise of Warehouse & Co. It is a faithful reproduction of a mid-1950s American jean, approached with an almost archaeological mindset: the yarns are recreated through the analysis of vintage denim rolls from the 1920s–30s, in order to replicate the irregular and lively structure of period fabrics.
The denim is woven by Kurabo using a blend of American cotton and natural brown Foxfibre® cotton, resulting in a dense, textured, and slightly slubby fabric. FoxFibre, developed by Sally Fox, is an organically grown, naturally colored cotton available in shades ranging from brown to green. Unlike conventional cotton, it requires no dyeing or chemical treatment, as the color is inherent to the fiber itself. The result of extensive selection and crossbreeding, it offers a more sustainable and environmentally friendly fiber while maintaining a soft, lively texture that evolves over time. This choice of fibers allows for highly contrasted and deep fading, characteristic of the most sought-after vintage jeans.
The “1954 Model” features a regular straight fit, slightly more comfortable than the 1947 models: high rise, balanced thigh, and a classic straight leg. The overall design remains true to the aesthetics of the American golden age of denim, with a robust construction built to last and develop a natural patina.
The Lot. 220XX-54 perfectly embodies the philosophy of Denime and Warehouse & Co.: reconstructing historical denim not as a stylized reinterpretation, but as a true textile and technical reproduction of the original garment.
This model is made from unsanforized (shrink-to-fit) denim. Before washing, the jeans fit slightly larger in anticipation of the fabric’s natural shrinkage. We recommend choosing your usual size to achieve a balanced fit after the first wash. If you prefer a slightly slimmer fit, it is also possible to size down.
After the first wash, you can generally expect shrinkage of around 2 to 3 cm at the waist and 5 to 6 cm in length. The rise and leg widths may also shrink by approximately 1 cm. Once worn, the denim will naturally stretch slightly over time, especially at the waist, gradually returning closer to its original measurement.
