Description
With the Lot. 220XX-54, Denime demonstrates the depth of research behind its XX Series. Produced by Warehouse & Co., this model faithfully recreates a classic American jean from the mid-1950s, drawing inspiration directly from original vintage garments and fabrics. Rather than simply reproducing the silhouette, the project focuses on reconstructing the denim itself, from fiber selection to yarn structure.
The 14oz denim is woven by Kurabo using a carefully selected blend of American cotton and naturally colored Foxfibre® cotton. Developed by agricultural pioneer Sally Fox, Foxfibre® is an organic cotton variety whose natural shades range from brown to green. Unlike conventional cotton, it requires no dyeing or chemical treatment, as the color is already present within the fiber itself. The result is a fabric with remarkable depth, texture, and environmental integrity.
The yarn spinning process was developed from extensive studies of vintage denim fabrics dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. This approach recreates the uneven, irregular character of historical denim, producing a fabric that feels alive and textured from the very first wear. The combination of slubby yarns, vintage-inspired weaving techniques, and Foxfibre® cotton creates a denim that will develop highly contrasted fades and a unique patina over time.
Construction follows the standards of classic American workwear, with cotton stitching throughout, a button fly, leather patch, and brown-gold selvedge ID. Every detail has been chosen to remain faithful to the garments that inspired the model while benefiting from the precision of modern Japanese manufacturing.
The 1954 Model fit offers a regular straight silhouette characteristic of the era. Slightly more comfortable than earlier post-war cuts, it features a high rise, balanced thigh, and straight leg opening, creating an authentic and timeless profile that pairs effortlessly with heritage footwear and workwear-inspired garments.

Why we selected it
We selected the Lot. 220XX-54 for the remarkable depth of research behind its development. From the recreation of vintage yarn structures to the integration of naturally colored Foxfibre® cotton, every aspect of the jean reflects a commitment to historical authenticity. Combined with the expertise of Warehouse & Co., it offers one of the most convincing interpretations of a 1950s American denim, balancing textile innovation, heritage craftsmanship, and long-term aging potential.
This model is made from unsanforized (shrink-to-fit) denim. Before washing, the jeans fit slightly larger in anticipation of the fabric’s natural shrinkage. We recommend choosing your usual size to achieve a balanced fit after the first wash. If you prefer a slightly slimmer fit, it is also possible to size down.
After the first wash, you can generally expect shrinkage of around 2 to 3 cm at the waist and 5 to 6 cm in length. The rise and leg widths may also shrink by approximately 1 cm. Once worn, the denim will naturally stretch slightly over time, especially at the waist, gradually returning closer to its original measurement.
Please note that these measurements are indicative and may vary slightly depending on the model or size.
In the photos, Maxime is 183 cm tall, weighs 75 kg, and wears a size 32.
