The Lot 223 Painter Pants from DENIME is a particularly detailed reproduction of an American painter's work pants from the 1930s. Relaunched in 2023 thanks to the expertise of Warehouse & Co., the Japanese brand, which had made its mark on the Japanese fashion scene in the 1990s, returns here to its historical approach to workwear by reproducing a model with the rare “full detail” finish.

Description

With the Lot 223 Painter Pant, DENIME focuses on American work pants in their most complete form. The model incorporates the many functional details characteristic of 1930s workwear, some of which gradually disappeared or were simplified on post-war models.

It features a side ruler pocket, triple-stitched reinforcements, a back cinch strap, suspender buttons, a crotch rivet and a leather patch. Together, these details give the pants a robust construction and a particularly strong presence, faithful to the aesthetic of pre-war American workwear. This wealth of details also accounts for the term “waist overall”, highlighting its design as a complete work garment.

The turned-up hem is another characteristic detail of the period. For certain trades performed while kneeling, particularly flooring work, the turned-up hem was reportedly also used to temporarily hold nails. Beyond its role in adjusting the length, this detail reflects the fundamentally functional nature of this workwear.

The pants are made from a lightweight denim woven with No. 8 yarns in the warp and No. 10 yarns in the weft. At approximately 10oz, this denim offers a balance between durability and lightness while retaining the characteristic texture of workwear. Its lighter construction makes it versatile and comfortable to wear throughout the year.

Fit

The Lot 223 Painter Pant features a relaxed, straight fit, with a generous thigh and a relatively wide leg opening. The length is intentionally generous, allowing for different styling options, including a turned-up hem.

Available in its unwashed version, the denim is expected to shrink after the first wash and gradually evolve with wear. We recommend referring to the measurement chart for the UNWASHED version when choosing your size.
