It is with pride and excitement that we present a project realized in close collaboration with one of our favorite labels, Beams Plus. Skillfully blending workwear, ivy, and streetwear influences, Beams Plus has been reinterpreting the great classics of American menswear from the 1940s to 1960s since its creation. With the 2 Pleats Trousers, the Japanese brand offers one of the most iconic models of its range: a pleated pant inspired by vintage tailoring, modernized with a contemporary loose fit. A staple of our catalogue, requested season after season, it was only natural to start from this model while subtly revisiting it on two levels: fit and fabric.
This version is crafted from a technical canvas combining 60% cotton and 40% Cordura® nylon. The fabric is produced in Hamamatsu, a region historically renowned for its textile industry, by Shibaya Co., a textile manufacturer founded in 1907. After weaving, the material is air-dried extensively under the sun (Sunny Dry), a traditional technique that allows the fabric to develop subtle irregularities and a lightly crumpled texture. This method gives the trousers a natural hand-feel and a unique texture, highlighting the depth of its color and the nuanced shades within.
Cordura® is renowned for the exceptional strength of its fibers. When combined with cotton, it creates a fabric highly resistant to abrasion, tearing, and wear, while maintaining the comfort and breathability of cotton trousers.
For the fit, we rethought its volume: slightly less roomy than usual, with a 3 cm reduction in thigh width, and a longer length, increased by 7 cm, to suit a wider range of body types.
The construction of the trousers, faithful to the original model, emphasizes details inherited from traditional American pants. At the front, the two slanted Italian-style pockets are complemented by a buttoned flap ticket pocket, a nod to work trousers and vintage chinos. The double pleats add volume around the hips and thighs, offering both ease and elegance. At the back, two welt pockets, one of which is buttoned, complete the ensemble with a classic tailoring-inspired finish.
This model fits true to size, you can take your usual size.
