A long-standing informal project that has existed for more than 10 years, Goémon is a one-off textile manufacturing and design venture created by Pierre, a passionate native of Rennes, a long-time friend and occasional partner of Flâneurs.
The name Goémon deliberately evokes the coastlines of Brittany, near which the pieces are designed and made. It also references Japanese folklore and its popular hero, Goemon Ishikawa. This is a nod to Japan's relationship with objects, as well as to Pierre's own personal journey, both of which significantly influence his work for Goémon.
Accustomed to custom creations and personal research projects, Pierre wanted to embark on creating a first collection with the ambition of designing a coherent set where each piece retains its singularity and unique character, staying true to the very essence of Goémon.
This first collection is the result of several initiatives undertaken in recent years, such as the creation of a light, water-resistant bag with good capacity, ideal for weekends, the beach, or as an extra bag. It also includes the dyeing and washing work on technical fabrics, aimed at giving an organic look back to petrochemical-based canvases.
