SEUVAS is a young Japanese label based in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. Inspired by workwear and military garments, the brand collaborates with the historic Takeyari mill, which has been producing canvas for over 130 years. Each season, SEUVAS releases a capsule collection dyed with natural pigments such as matcha tea, coffee, or charcoal, while continuing to cut and sew all garments in its own Kurashiki workshop using vintage sewing machines.

The Coverall Jacket by SEUVAS is a refined take on the classic Japanese work jacket, crafted from a sturdy and textured 10oz canvas woven in Kojima. This edition belongs to the new capsule collection featuring the natural Sumi Dye. The Sumi dye (墨染め, Sumizome) is a traditional Japanese dyeing method using black ink, employed for centuries to color textiles, paper, and wood. It is made from soot derived from pine, bamboo, or vegetable oil, blended with natural binders such as animal glue (nikawa), and sometimes enriched with mineral or plant-based additives to achieve the desired tone.

In terms of details, the jacket retains the codes of traditional workwear: wing collar, three patch pockets, and button-adjustable cuffs. Staying true to the brand’s artisanal spirit, the first button is handcrafted from Amakusa porcelain, a pottery stone that has been used in Japanese ceramics since the 17th century.

The fit is straight and slightly oversized, making it easy to wear over a t-shirt or a hoodie. A versatile piece, somewhere between a work jacket and an overshirt, designed to age beautifully over time.
