Seuvas is a young Japanese label based in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. Inspired by workwear and military garments, the brand crafts its pieces using the exceptional canvas from Takeyari, a local mill that has been producing this fabric for over 130 years. In its permanent collection, Seuvas offers jackets, shirts, and trousers made from natural canvas, all cut and sewn in-house in their own Kurashiki workshop using vintage sewing machines.

Each season, the brand releases a new capsule collection featuring organic dyes such as matcha tea, coffee, or charcoal, and adds a distinctive detail to every garment: the collar button. This porcelain button is handcrafted from clay mined in the city of Amakusa, located in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Amakusa pottery stone is historically significant and has been used in Japanese ceramics since the 17th century. These porcelain buttons, specially designed for Seuvas, are traditionally made in Amakusa.

For this season, Seuvas introduces a new capsule collection dyed with the natural Sumi Dye. The Sumi dye (墨染め, Sumizome) is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique using black ink that has been employed for centuries to color textiles, paper, and wood. It is made from soot derived from pine, bamboo, or vegetable oil, combined with natural binders such as animal glue (nikawa), and sometimes enhanced with mineral or plant-based additives to achieve the desired shade.

With the Wing Collar Shirt Jacket, Seuvas delivers a piece that sits perfectly between a jacket and an overshirt — ideal for warmer days and summer weather. The apparent simplicity of this overshirt is elevated by subtle details such as the porcelain collar button, the side slits with drawstrings, and the exclusive inner label created specifically for the Sumi Dye capsule.
