Leg Twist
The leg twist is a natural phenomenon mostly seen on selvedge jeans, where the outer seam of the leg twists slightly, often shifting toward the front over time. This occurs after washing, especially with unsanforized or lightly stabilized raw denim. The twist is caused by the tension in the twill weave, which leads the fabric to distort as it shrinks.
Far from being a flaw, the leg twist is seen as a mark of authenticity and character, highly valued by denim enthusiasts. Each pair develops a unique twist, adding to the garment’s lived-in, personal feel.
