Seuvas is a young Japanese label based in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. Inspired by workwear and military apparel, the brand offers garments made from the exceptional canvas of Takeyari, a local manufacturer that has been producing this material for 130 years. Seuvas thus offers jackets, shirts, and trousers in natural canvas in its permanent collection, cutting and sewing all garments in their own workshop in Kurashiki using vintage sewing machines.

Each season, the brand launches a new capsule with organic dyes like matcha tea, coffee, or charcoal, and accompanies its garments with a unique detail: the collar button. This is a hand-made porcelain button made from clay ore mined in the town of Amakusa, in Kimamoto Prefecture, Japan. The Amakusa pottery stone is a historic pottery stone, used in Japanese pottery since the 17th century. These porcelain buttons, designed especially for Seuvas, are traditionally made in Amakusa.

For this season, Seuvas presents a new capsule collection dyed with Binchotan charcoal. Binchotan is a very dense vegetable charcoal, resembling metal and made from Ubamegashi oak. It is known for many virtues, such as water purification, absorption of unwanted tastes and smells, and also its excellent thermal capabilities, widely used in cooking. Used as a dye base, it gives the fabric a unique feel, between softness and roughness, and will also provide a distinctive patina similar to what indigo dye would do.

This straight-cut shirt, comfortable to wear all year round, is distinguished by atypical raglan sleeves that promote ease of movement. The chest pocket features a sewn flap that keeps it pressed down, eliminating the need for a button and sewn lower on one side for easier pocket access. The apparent simplicity of this shirt is enhanced by subtle details such as the collar button and the hand-sewn interior label.
