This pair of socks from ROTOTO is made on old knitting machines using a blend of organic cotton yarn and silk yarns providing softness and comfort. Its design is a mix of exclusive brand patterns, knitted in a way to eliminate one of the issues with Jacquard patterned socks, namely the lack of horizontal elasticity. The numerous inner threads resulting from this type of weaving are also eliminated, making the sock comfortable and durable.
ROTOTO socks are made in the largest sock-producing region of Japan, Nara Prefecture. The region has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial production of socks was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after a study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This could be rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitters, or on the contrary, modern high-tech tools.
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's know-how.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
