These Rib Crew Socks are knitted with twisted thread of Washi (Japanese paper fiber) and recycled cotton fibers. The comfort of the cotton and the cooling sensation of the Washi make them the ideal choice for warm seasons. Washi thread is known for its excellent moisture-wicking properties, quick-drying ability, and deodorizing effect.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in the largest sock-producing region of Japan, Nara Prefecture. The region has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after studying abroad.
ROTOTO places high value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design for a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This may include rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or alternatively, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the artisan's craftsmanship.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh perspective. We will continue to strive to produce things that can only be created here."
