Despite being a relatively recent creation dating back to 2013, Batoner is the proprietary brand of the knitwear company Okuyama Meriyasu established in the 1950s. Batoner, which means "one who inherits," proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata, which for many years housed the best knitwear manufacturers in Japan. Today, only about fifteen of these manufacturers are still active, each striving to preserve the techniques and traditions that have brought renown to this region.

Although specializing in woolen knitwear, Batoner leverages its expertise to offer high-quality cotton sweatshirts and t-shirts, designed on specific machines. This Jumberca Urake Crewneck is slowly knitted on an old German knitting machine called Jumberca, chosen for the fluffy texture it imparts to the knit. The yarns used for the outer part of the sweatshirt are air-spun to achieve a light feel despite the density, while ensuring a high level of durability. The interior is made from a softer skin-friendly yarn to make the sweatshirt comfortable to wear even though it is not brushed. Unbrushed fabrics offer greater versatility, suitable for wearing in different seasons.

In terms of fit, Batoner remains close to its usual style with a simple and minimalist drape, slightly boxy with a generous raglan armhole that tapers to the wrist to ensure a consistent silhouette and perfect fit. The 2 side pockets, on the other hand, provide an ergonomic touch while remaining nearly invisible when worn.
