Despite being founded relatively recently in 2013, Batoner is the in-house brand of the knitwear manufacturer Okuyama Meriyasu, established in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits", proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of Japan’s Yamagata prefecture, long known for hosting some of the finest knitwear factories in Japan. Today, with only around fifteen factories still in operation, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that built the region’s reputation.
This 32G Smooth Knit T-Shirt is produced through a delicate process that can only be carried out using highly specialized knitting machines, combining the technology and expertise cultivated by Batoner over many years. Due to the meticulous knitting process, only a limited number of pieces can be produced each day. The resulting fabric offers exceptional softness while maintaining a dense structure that ensures excellent shape retention, even after repeated wear and washing. By using hand-linked seams crafted by skilled artisans, the t-shirt retains its natural elasticity, achieved through tightly knit stitches, and provides a fluid, relaxed fit. The sleeve ends and hem are also knitted rather than sewn, avoiding traditional stitching and giving the garment a clean, refined finish.
