Despite being relatively recently established in 2013, Batoner is the in-house brand of knitwear manufacturer Okuyama Meriyasu, founded in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits", proudly represents the near century-old craftsmanship of Japan’s Yamagata prefecture, which for many years brought together some of the finest knitwear factories in Japan. With only around fifteen still operating today, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that built the region’s reputation.
This 32G Smooth Knit Polo is produced through a delicate process that can only be carried out on highly specialized knitting machines, using the expertise and technology developed by Batoner over many years. Due to the time-intensive knitting process, only a limited number of pieces can be produced each day. The resulting fabric combines exceptional softness with a density that ensures excellent shape retention, even after repeated wear and washing. By using linking techniques carried out by hand by skilled artisans, the polo retains its natural elasticity thanks to the tight knit structure, resulting in a fluid and relaxed fit. The finishing touches, particularly the structured polo collar and mother-of-pearl button placket, add a more refined touch while maintaining the clean and minimal aesthetic of the piece.
