The Shaggy Dog Cardigan revisits one of the most iconic symbols of Ivy League style and the J. Press heritage. Originally crafted from Scottish Shetland wool brushed with teasel pods to achieve its signature fuzzy and soft appearance, it was named “Shaggy Dog” by Irving Press, son of the founder, in reference to the dog he owned at the time.
This new Made in Japan version is produced in collaboration with Yonetomi Seni, a Japanese knitwear atelier founded in 1952 in Yamagata and renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. Knit in 5-gauge, it combines the soft, lightweight feel of Shetland wool with the precision and expertise of Japanese production, striking the perfect balance between heritage and modernity.
With its fluffy texture, slightly relaxed fit, and timeless yet casual appeal, this cardigan embodies both classic American elegance and the freer, grunge-inspired spirit of the 1990s. It can be worn over a shirt or T-shirt as a versatile centerpiece for any fall or winter outfit.
