RED WING SHOES / Iron Ranger 8084 Black Harness
The Red Wing Iron Ranger boot is a classic work shoe made in Red Wing, Minnesota. The style is inspired by the "Mesabi Iron Range" located in northern Minnesota, a mountain range known for its iron ore. The Iron Ranger from Red Wing is easily recognized by its double leather toe cap which provides additional protection. Additionally, it features a heel counter for better support.
The Black Harness leather from Red Wing is a natural, pigment-free, oil-tanned leather. Therefore, it is a leather that ages very well and retains all its natural visible marks.
It has a Vibram 430 Mini Lug outsole made of indestructible nitrile cork, which is flexible and oil resistant.

CAREFULLY ASSEMBLED
Red Wing Heritage shoes are handmade in the USA using traditional construction techniques. The brand uses the finest raw materials to create extremely durable shoes and boots. It takes more than 230 steps to make each pair of shoes.
TANNING
Red Wing Heritage is one of the few companies to own its own tannery: the S.B. Foot Tanning Company in Red Wing, Minnesota.
The S.B. Foot Tanning Company prepares the hides and soaks them in wooden drums with oils from trees, tanning agents, and dyes. After soaking, the tanned leathers are rolled, dried, and stretched before undergoing several quality tests and being transported a kilometer further to the Red Wing factory.
This is an essential element because the brand's reputation has been built largely on the robustness, durability, and quality of patina of Red Wing leathers.

CUTTING
The shoe manufacturing process, largely unchanged since the creation of Red Wing, begins with leather cutting. Highly skilled craftsmen carefully position sharp cutting dies on each large piece of leather. Selecting the highest quality parts of the leather is a very important step that requires great expertise and a lot of experience.
ASSEMBLY
The cut leather pieces are then meticulously sewn together by experienced operators to form the shoe upper. They work on the same century-old sewing machines that were already in use at the start of the Red Wing Shoe Company.
SOLE ATTACHMENT
The outsole is manually stitched to the midsole. This is a complex action requiring great precision to ensure that the final step in the shoe construction process is perfectly executed.
GOODYEAR WELT
Most Red Wing Heritage shoes are made using a Goodyear welt. This is a construction method that dates back to 1869. Known for its durability, the Goodyear welt joins a thin leather welt to the upper and the insole of the shoe. Goodyear welted shoes are also easy to resole, thus ensuring their continuous and long-term use.
FINISHING
All shoes are meticulously inspected twice before being packed into shoe boxes. Depending on the type of leather, each shoe is cleaned, polished, brushed, and finished by a dedicated team.
