Features of the Naked & Famous Denim / Blanka Electric Surge Selvedge
The Blanka Electric Surge Selvedge was part of the collaboration between Naked & Famous Denim and the video game Street Fighter II. Launched in 2018, this capsule was a huge success.
This 12.5 oz jean, which at first glance appears to be a fairly classic selvedge denim, stands out thanks to its green-dyed weft yarn before being overdyed with indigo to evoke Blanka's skin. Brand new, it looks like a traditional dark raw jean, but over time, as the indigo fades with wear and friction, this unique green hue gradually emerges. This model perfectly illustrates the appeal of denims whose weft yarn has a core dyed differently from a standard white yarn.
Unfortunately, we have misplaced the contact details of the customer who entrusted us with this exceptionally faded jean.

We had this model in our collection in 2018, so it was likely worn for 5 or 6 years.
We do not know the exact number of washes, but the crease marks suggest they were very spaced out. When wearing raw denim, friction creates very specific fading marks, notably the “honeycombs” located behind the knees.
