From our new collaboration with Kardo, this long-sleeve Ajrakh AJK25 shirt pays tribute to the exceptional artisanal craftsmanship of the Indian manufacturer. Made from a lightweight and fluid 100% cotton fabric, it comes in a versatile straight cut and stands out thanks to its Block Print patterns, a traditional Indian technique applied entirely by hand. The model features a buttoned chest pocket, corozo buttons, and an open collar with a button loop, creating a look that is both authentic and contemporary. Entirely handmade, each piece is unique and comes with a label listing the names of the artisans involved in its creation.
What is Block Print?
The fabric used for this model is a uniform base with a colorfast dye, onto which patterns are applied using the Block Print technique. This artisanal process involves hand-carving patterns into wooden blocks, which are then dipped into natural dyes and stamped onto the fabric. Each block creates a unique motif, resulting in variations from one shirt to another. It is a time-consuming process that often requires several blocks for a single pattern, demanding patience and precision when layering the prints.
