The S/S Work Shirt Plain Indigo Chambray by Beams Plus continues the brand’s exploration of mid-20th century American utilitarian garments. It draws directly from 1940s–1950s work shirts, emphasizing functionality, durability, and clean, straightforward design.
The main fabric is an indigo chambray woven from rope-dyed yarns, allowing for subtle tonal variation and a gradual evolution of color over time. Woven on shuttle looms, the fabric features a slightly uneven texture and a dry hand feel typical of traditional workwear textiles. With wear and washing, it gradually softens and develops a natural indigo patina.
Construction highlights authentic workwear detailing: triple-needle stitching with visible run-offs, stress-point bar-tack reinforcements, cat’s eye buttons, and functional patch pockets. These elements ensure strong durability while maintaining a clean and balanced aesthetic. The relatively loose, boxy straight fit provides ease of movement and allows the shirt to be worn either on its own or as a lightweight overshirt depending on the season.
