This pair of socks from ROTOTO is made on old knitting machines using a blend of organic cotton yarn and silk threads, providing softness and comfort. Its design features a mix of exclusive patterns to the brand, knit in a way that eliminates one of the problems with Jacquard pattern socks, namely the lack of horizontal elasticity. The numerous internal threads resulting from this kind of weaving are also eliminated, making the sock comfortable and durable.
ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The region has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910, when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a loom from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.
ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines based on the type of material and the use of the product. This can involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, on the other hand, modern high-tech tools."
ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the craftsman's know-how.
"Preserving the tradition inherited from previous generations, while painting the future with a fresh outlook. We will continue to try to produce things that can only be created here."
