Dubble Works was created over 10 years ago by the Japanese label Warehouse & Co. and is now under the direction of Sankei Meriyasu. Historically, it is a knitwear company founded in 1926, renowned for making sweatshirts and high-quality t-shirts. Indeed, to make their cotton jerseys, they primarily use old 1920s circular weaving machines called "loopwheelers".
To create this piece, Dubble Works chose another industrial machine, also old and circular, called "Standwheeler", originally designed and created in Wakayama, Japan. Rare and difficult to operate, only a handful of artisans are capable of running it. The cotton jersey produced by the Standwheelers is very different from the classic loopwheel t-shirts. Indeed, these machines allow for spinning a much thicker yarn than standard. This results in a fabric that is both thick and sturdy yet breathable. Moreover, the Japanese label integrates shorter fibers from remnants following the combing process into the weave. This addition creates texture and irregularity. It consists of the Raffy thread, historically the first made from recycled cotton.
Dubble Works t-shirts fit true to size. You can choose your usual size for a fitted look, or one size up for a more comfortable fit.
