Despite being relatively new with its inception in 2013, Batoner is the proprietary brand of the knitting company Okuyama Meriyasu, established in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits," proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of Japan's Yamagata prefecture, which has historically clustered the best knitwear manufacturers of Japan. With only about fifteen still active today, each strives to preserve the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.
Although specialized in wool knitting, Batoner leverages its experience to offer high-end cotton sweats and t-shirts, crafted on very particular machines. This t-shirt is made from organic cotton with extra-long fibers, spun double-thick and knitted on a special knitting machine, which provides a comfortable tension and seamless body. It features a soft touch and silky texture unique to organic cotton. Its standard, comfortable, and versatile fit comes with sleeves and hem sewn with single stitch. The collar, meanwhile, is made with an edge-to-edge shoulder band to resist stretching and deformation, even after many wears and washes.
