This Lot 4601 from Warehouse & Co. is the ultimate henley version of a basic t-shirt. Made from a 100% cotton jersey, woven at low tension from highly irregular yarns, it features a classic short and boxy silhouette. The reinforced 3-button collar opening and the overlock seams ensure a strong hold and increased durability of the finishes.
The high level of requirements at Warehouse & Co. led them to search for the most suitable machines to create these vintage-looking t-shirts. Their choice fell on a weaving machine from the 1960s, originally used to produce ribbed underwear with thick yarns. This machine allows them to retain all the natural irregularity of the cotton threads and to combine a unique texture with undeniable durability.
The so-called "Loopwheel" machines weave cotton with very low thread tension, thus producing a unique and superior quality fabric for an incredibly comfortable final result. There are only about 400 machines of this type left in Wakayama, Japan, and only half of them are currently in use. These machines were the standard from the 1920s to the 1960s, until these manufacturing methods, deemed too slow and costly, gave way to efficiency and reduced production costs.
Due to the weaving technique used, these t-shirts may experience slight shrinkage when washed, please take this into account when choosing the size.
