Since its founding in 1927, Vétra has continued its legacy and expertise by manufacturing all its iconic garments in its own workshop. Among these, the work jacket holds an iconic place, having been worn by numerous workers before being supplanted after the war by double-breasted jackets.

This 100% linen work jacket follows the design of the jackets worn by workers that shaped the image of French workwear. Historically, the oldest workwear fabrics were woven from linen whose fibers came from Normandy, linen being the quintessential local European fiber. It was only later that blends of cotton & linen appeared, and of course, 100% cotton.

Despite its considerable weight, the fabric used here is pleasant and light to wear, benefiting from the thermal and anti-sweat properties of linen. Over-dyed to give it a subtly washed-out look, the fabric features a 5-button placket with old copper buttons and the traditional exterior patch pockets, one on the chest and two for the hands, and the inside chest pocket in the pure tradition of the original work jackets.
