A cornerstone of the Osaka 5, a legendary group that includes the top Japanese denim manufacturers, Studio D'Artisan is a pioneering label with 45 years of experience. To mark their 45th anniversary, the brand has introduced a series dedicated to the craftsmanship of Japanese factories in the production stages of quality denim.

Made in a 13oz weight, the Ishikawadai denim is crafted from cotton spun on the Japanese machine of the same name, Ishikawadai, which is the oldest of its kind, dating back to 1953. Unlike modern machines, the Ishikawadai spins cotton at a much slower speed (about 30% slower), which results in less stressed cotton fibers and gives the final fabric a natural appearance, similar to hand-spun yarn, with subtle variations in thickness and a slightly grainy texture.

The entire manufacturing process is intentionally "low-tech" to recreate the appearance of typical 1950s denim. In addition to special techniques, the production of this denim relies on the use of American cotton from the border region between Texas and Mexico, specifically the lower Rio Grande Valley. The climatic conditions of this area allow for the cultivation of long-fiber cotton of superior quality, perfectly meeting the criteria required in the production of exceptional denim.

The cut of the SP-085 is a classic Regular Straight. It features a slightly high waist, comfortably fitting the curve, and continues with a straight leg from the thigh to the hem for a decidedly vintage drop.
