Pure Blue Japan is the result of Kenichi Iwaya's vision, a textile enthusiast based in Okayama, the historical home of Japanese denim. Since founding the brand in 1997, his goal has remained unchanged: to create fabrics with a unique character, distinguished both by their texture and by the way they evolve over time.

The XX-002 is crafted from the iconic XX series denim, the true signature fabric of the brand. Weighing 14oz, this denim is woven at low tension to preserve the natural irregularities of the cotton fibres. This weaving method creates a fabric rich in texture and relief, featuring pronounced slub characteristics, a slightly hairy surface, and an instantly recognisable visual depth.

The indigo used by Pure Blue Japan is designed to evolve gradually with wear. The fabric's natural texture variations encourage strong contrasts and complex fade patterns that reveal the full richness of the weave. As a result, each pair develops a unique patina that reflects both its owner and the way it is worn.
