Despite being relatively recent, established in 2013, Batoner is the proprietary brand of Okuyama Meriyasu knitwear, which was founded in the 1950s. Batoner, meaning "one who inherits", proudly represents the nearly century-old craftsmanship of the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata, which has grouped together the best knitting factories in Japan for many years. With only about fifteen still active today, each strives to continue the techniques and traditions that have made this region famous.

In this context, Batoner offers a wide range of sweaters, vests, and cardigans made from their Signature knit. This knit is produced by the family-owned mill Sato Seni, also located in Yamagata. For this Signature Crewneck, the design is simple and minimalist to maintain the timeless aura cherished by the manufacturer. The assembly of the raglan sleeves supports a versatile straight fall that will easily match a wide range of outfits and combinations. It features a thick, reinforced neckline that will ensure its durability over time.

It is made from Sea Island cotton from the West Indies, known to be one of the best in the world due to strict quality control. The application of extra twist to the yarn before knitting it with a special multi-strand knitting machine gives it great longevity and a silky appearance. The Sea Island cotton, containing a lot of oil and grease in its fibers, results in a sweater that is soft to the touch, with a smooth texture, and excellent moisture absorption and wicking properties.
