Despite being a relatively recent creation dating back to 2013, Batoner is the in-house brand of the knitwear company Okuyama Meriyasu founded in the 1950s. Batoner, which means "one who inherits", proudly represents the almost centennial expertise of the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata, which for many years brought together the best knitting factories in Japan. Today, there are only around fifteen still in operation, each striving to perpetuate the techniques and traditions that have made the region famous.

In this context, Batoner offers a wide range of pullovers, cardigans, and sweaters made from their Signature knit. This knit is produced by the family-run spinning mill Sato Seni, also located in Yamagata. It is made from merino wool yarn, offering substantial weight while maintaining flexibility and breathability thanks to an openwork stitch. The spinning technique used preserves the authenticity of the wool and gives the final knit a unique ribbed appearance.
