Description

With the Fox Cotton Work Shirt, Studio D’Artisan explores an almost original vision of textile craftsmanship by placing at its center a cotton developed by farmer and researcher Sally Fox. A pioneer in organic cotton farming, she revived an ancient variety of naturally colored cotton fibers whose origins date back thousands of years.

Unlike conventional cotton, Fox Cotton requires no dyeing process. Its color—ranging from warm brown shades to softer earthy tones—comes directly from the plant itself. This unique characteristic makes it both an environmentally responsible material and a textile with a deeply organic and unpredictable aesthetic.

The version used here is woven from a substantial 12oz twill with an irregular texture, adding extra depth and dimension to the fabric. The combination of Fox Cotton and the uneven weave creates a rich yet natural appearance, where texture becomes the garment’s defining visual feature.

Both sturdy and substantial, the fabric gives the shirt a jacket-like feel. It can be worn on its own or as a lightweight overshirt, offering real presence without sacrificing the simplicity of the silhouette.
