Reproduction of Found ("ROF") is a brand from the Japanese group Eye Found Co. Ltd, founded in 2016.
The brand’s main goal is to reproduce footwear and sneakers from the 1950s to the 1990s. It has specialized in military training sneakers from various armies around the world: Canadian, French, American, German, British, and Russian.
This model is a reinterpretation of the iconic German Army Trainer, often abbreviated as GAT. The origin of this model dates back to the 1970s, when the German Federal Army ("Bundeswehr" or "BW") placed an order for half a million training sneakers designed for intensive military use. Two major German brands competed for this contract: Adidas and Puma.
The model we know today was indeed produced, but historical archives do not allow us to determine which brand was responsible, and the mystery remains unsolved, further fueling the legend.
This version offered by ROF preserves the upper design, combining Ventile® cotton fabric and Italian suede Nappa leather with a soft pig leather lining. The addition of Ventile®, a fabric scientifically developed in Manchester to ensure thermal regulation and water resistance, provides this GAT with enhanced comfort. ROF models are among the best reproductions in this category, offering great durability combined with immediate comfort.
