Reproduction of Found ("ROF") is a brand of the Japanese group Eye Found Co. Ltd, established in 2016.
The primary goal of the brand is to reproduce footwear and sneakers from the 1950s to the 1990s. It specializes in reproducing training sneakers of various world armies including Canadian, French, American, German, British, and Russian.
This model is a reinterpretation of the iconic German Army Trainer, often abbreviated as GAT. The origin of this model dates back to the 1970s when the German federal army ("Bundeswehr" or "BW") wanted to order half a million sneakers durable enough for the intensive training of its battalions. Two major German brands, Adidas and Puma, then competed for this contract.
The model as we know it did indeed come into existence, but archival records from the time do not clarify which company originated it, and the mystery remains unsolved to this day, with various participants' accounts continuing to fuel the legend.
This version offered by ROF maintains the design of the upper part, crafted in flexible suede leather. The outsole, however, differs from the original, here replaced by a BW SPORTS sole. The models offered by ROF are among the best reproductions of the kind and offer great durability combined with immediate comfort.
