ROTOTO Double Face Merino Pile Socks Natural

Inspired by traditional trekking socks, the Double Face Merino Pile Socks combine the thermal properties of merino wool with a construction specifically designed to improve durability for everyday wear. Their generous pile structure provides warmth, softness and cushioning, while cotton covers the wool on the outer surface to better protect it from friction. The Natural colourway particularly highlights the texture and warm character of this construction.

Description

With the Double Face Merino Pile Socks, ROTOTO takes the enveloping construction of traditional trekking socks and adapts it for everyday wear. Merino wool lies at the heart of the design: used in a generous pile structure, it provides warmth and softness while retaining the natural moisture-regulating properties associated with the fibre.

ROTOTO also addresses one of wool's main weaknesses: its sensitivity to friction. A specific knitting technique allows the wool to be covered with cotton on the outer surface, improving the sock's durability without sacrificing the comfort provided by merino wool.

The areas exposed to the greatest amount of wear receive additional attention. The toe, heel and sole are reinforced with nylon to improve resistance to abrasion. Rather than using a uniform material throughout the sock, the construction therefore combines different fibres according to the specific role each one needs to perform.

The Double Face Merino Pile Socks are made in Japan, drawing on the specialist hosiery expertise of the workshops ROTOTO works with.

Fit & Sizing

The Double Face Merino Pile Socks feature a classic crew length and a relatively substantial pile construction. Their soft interior comfortably surrounds the foot and provides more cushioning than a conventional sock, without reaching the volume of ROTOTO's heaviest pile constructions.

Size S corresponds to EU sizes 37 to 40, Size M to EU sizes 41 to 44, while Size L is suitable for EU size 44 and above.

ROTOTO recommends avoiding tumble drying, as the heat may cause shrinkage.

Why We Selected It

What particularly interests us about this model is the intelligence of its construction. ROTOTO does not simply use merino wool for its thermal properties: each fibre serves a specific purpose, with cotton protecting the wool on the outer surface and nylon reinforcing the areas most exposed to wear. It is a highly functional approach that directly reflects the model's outdoor origins.

The Natural colourway perhaps expresses this spirit most directly. Its ecru tone highlights the textured, warm appearance of the material while remaining extremely easy to combine with denim, olive, brown, beige and leather footwear.
