A flagship model from ROTOTO, the OG Cotton Slub Stripe socks are knitted using a blend of organic cotton yarn and recycled polyester yarn. The fabric offers both the comfort of cotton and the quick-drying properties and durability of polyester. For the cotton yarn, ROTOTO sought the expertise of an Osaka spinning mill to achieve the perfect balance between thickness variations and strength. Each yarn is carefully and slowly spun by skilled operators using an old spinning loom that has been in use since the 1950s.

The polyester yarn is made from recycled plastic bottles. This approach is part of ROTOTO's commitment to using only highly transparent materials to ensure their environmental respect, quality, and traceability.

ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. The region has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a weaving machine from the United States to his hometown after a study trip to the country.

ROTOTO places great value on collaboration in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with the craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines according to the type of material and the use of the product. This can involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, conversely, modern high-tech tools."

The ROTOTO socks can only be made by combining the right materials, the right machine, and the artisan's expertise.
