A flagship model from ROTOTO, the OG Cotton Slub Stripe socks are knitted with a blend of organic cotton yarn and recycled polyester yarn. The fabric offers both the comfort of cotton and the quick-drying and durability properties of polyester. For the cotton yarn, ROTOTO enlisted the help of an Osaka spinning mill to achieve the perfect balance between thickness variations and strength. Each thread is carefully and slowly spun by skilled operators using an old spinning machine used since the 1950s.

The polyester yarn is made from recycled plastic bottles. This approach is part of ROTOTO's commitment to use only highly transparent materials to ensure their environmental respect, quality, and traceability.

The ROTOTO socks are manufactured in Japan's largest sock-producing region, the Nara Prefecture. The region has been known for its quality textiles since the 17th century. Industrial sock production was first introduced in 1910 when a man from the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a loom from the United States to his hometown after his study trip to the country.

ROTOTO places great value on consultation in its product research: "We start by selecting the right yarns with craftsmen to develop the design of a new material. After that, we choose the knitting machines depending on the type of material and the intended use of the product. This can involve rare machines that have a specific use, old non-computerized knitting machines, or alternatively, modern high-tech tools."
