This pair of Organic Cotton Slub Crew Socks by Rototo stands out thanks to its natural, textured appearance, achieved through the use of organic “slub” cotton yarn. The yarn’s irregular thickness adds depth and an authentic character to the fabric. The ribbed knit construction ensures a secure fit while remaining soft and comfortable for everyday wear. The ROTOTO socks are made in Japan’s largest sock-producing region, Nara Prefecture. This area has been renowned for its textile craftsmanship since the 17th century. Industrial sock production began there in 1910, when a resident of the former village of Umami (now Koryocho) imported a knitting machine from the United States, laying the foundations of a tradition that continues to this day.
ROTOTO places great importance on collaboration in its product development: “We begin by selecting the right yarns together with artisans to develop a new material. We then choose the knitting machines according to the type of yarn and the intended use of the product. These may be rare machines designed for specific purposes, old non-computerized knitting machines, or, on the contrary, modern high-tech equipment.”
