Dubble Works was founded over 10 years ago by the Japanese label Warehouse & Co. and is now under the direction of Sankei Meriyasu. Historically, it originates from a knitwear company established in 1926, renowned for producing exceptionally high-quality sweatshirts and T-shirts. To create their cotton jerseys, they primarily use vintage circular knitting machines from the 1920s known as “loopwheelers.”
The genesis of this Cut Off Sleeve Sweat Polo by Dubbleworks comes from a long search for a truly summer-ready short-sleeve sweatshirt. To achieve this piece, the label used a special technique called “3-Tobi,” which involves skipping three stitches during the knitting process. Thanks to this unique method, the fabric features a looser knit, resulting in a lightweight, soft, and cushioned feel.
The boxy fit, loose and comfortable, is paired with a buttonless polo collar and ribbed cuffs that are both flexible and durable. Another detail commonly found on vintage T-shirts and sweatshirts, the raglan sleeves are “cut off,” finished with a raw edge and reinforced by a simple stitch to prevent fraying.
The Heather Grey shade, typical of vintage collegiate sweatshirts or models worn by the military, is achieved through a blend of differently colored yarns, creating its distinctive heathered appearance.
