The Sashiko weave is an integral part of Japanese culture. It is a decorative embroidery technique also associated with clothing production. Historically used for firefighters' uniforms during the Edo period, Sashiko is nowadays found in Judo and Kendo uniforms, as well as in the collections of many Japanese brands committed to preserving this tradition.
Japan Blue is one such brand, offering us here a pair of indigo-dyed Sashiko pants. The advantage of this weave lies in its breathability and the flexibility that comes with it. These characteristics make it a perfect fabric for warmer seasons. In addition, the deep indigo dye will allow the pants to develop a beautiful texture and patina over time, shifting between different shades ranging from subtle green to a distinctive light blue.
This "Wide Tapered" fit from Japan Blue is a new cut focused on volume, featuring a high rise, generous room through the thighs and a slightly tapered shape from the knee down, finishing with a straight leg opening. The five-pocket construction is reminiscent of a pair of jeans, while the presence of a pleat on either side of the waist accentuates its rounded shape, providing greater ease of movement and comfort when seated.
