Description
With this Black Denim Type-III Slim Fit, Sugar Cane revisits the aesthetics of post-war American workwear denim through a modern and refined approach. Inspired by 1947 constructions, this model retains the DNA of utilitarian jeans while adopting a more fitted silhouette designed for contemporary wear.
The fabric is a specially developed 13oz black selvedge denim. It is woven using irregular warp and weft yarns to recreate an authentic, lively texture faithful to historical denim fabrics. The deep sulfur dye gives the jean an intense black tone from the start, designed to gradually evolve into grey shades and pronounced contrasts over time and repeated washes.
The construction follows classic vintage American denim standards: robust assembly, hidden rivets at stress points, and traditional button fly finishing. This technical approach ensures both durability and historical accuracy, in line with Sugar Cane’s dedication to reproduction craftsmanship.
Delivered in a one wash version, the denim has been pre-washed to stabilize the fabric and prevent significant shrinkage. However, it retains the behavior of raw selvedge denim: slight relaxation at the waist and thighs during wear, followed by gradual stabilization of the fit. The fabric softens over time and develops a unique patina specific to each wearer.
Made in Japan by Sugar Cane (Toyo Enterprise), this model perfectly reflects the brand’s philosophy: preserving historical authenticity while adapting cuts and finishes for modern everyday use.
