The Fall/Winter 2022 season marked the birth of the first collaboration between Harley of Scotland and Flâneurs, enriched by the addition of Scottish spinning Gardiner Yarns. Due to the quality of this collaboration and the enthusiasm it has generated, we have decided to renew this exclusive partnership for the third time this season. Fall/Winter 2024. The basic recipe remains unchanged: the design of the sweaters, as well as the knitting and assembly, are carried out by Harley of Scotland using Shetland wool that we have selected from Gardiner Yarns.
The sweaters Harley Of Scotland from our third collaboration
Long-time partners, we have always been staunch advocates of expertise and authenticity. Harley of Scotland, an iconic Scottish manufacturer based in Peterhead, the most populous city in Aberdeenshire, on the east coast of Scotland. Since 1929, this family business has been combining tradition and innovation by working with locally sourced wool. One of the remarkable features of Harley of Scotland is its ability to produce " Sans couture ", knit in a single piece, without side seams, a true guarantee of quality and comfort.
Gardiner Yarns Wool
For the past 20 years, we have had the opportunity to test a great many wools, and Gardiner Yarns' remains one of our favorites. It has a rustic look and a drier texture, which softens over time and with washing.

Whether it's for pure wool yarns or blends with noble fibers like cashmere, alpaca, or merino, The spinning mill is capable of creating unique compositions..
Here are some photos from Gardiner Yarns that illustrate each step of the spinning process.
Step 1 / Carding of fibers : a step that involves untangling and aligning the wool fibers to form a web.
Step 2 / Spinning: The woolen cloth is then spun to create a yarn.
Step 3 / Steam Bath The thread is steamed to stabilize the fibers and improve the quality of the thread.
Step 4 / Winding : the wire is wound onto spools to facilitate its later use.
Step 5 / Packaging The wool yarn spools are ready to be shipped to Harley Of Scotland to design the exclusive sweaters for our collaboration.
"The Choice of a 'Shaggy' Wool"
As last year, we have chosen to offer the sweaters exclusively in a brushed version, known as "Shaggy"This technique, in which Harley of Scotland excels, involves brushing the sweater just once, not with an artificial brush, but with a" wild teasel (Dipsacus fullonum), a variety of thistle that, once dried, becomes a natural brush offering a unique result. This process helps in removing short wool fibers, which are usually responsible for "pilling," while giving the sweater a softer and fluffier appearance. The result is an airy knit that combines the characteristic roughness of Gardiner Yarns wool with the airy look of brushing, thereby creating a rich texture which resembles that of mohair.
